Protein Supplements

Why buy protein supplements if you can get enough protein from the food you eat, you ask. The answer lies in bio-availability, or the actual absorption of proteins by the body upon ingestion.
Immediately after an intensive workout, muscles are damaged and need to be repaired During this brief period, the muscle are especially receptive to nutrient and the blood flow to the exercised muscle is high. Supplements like fast acting whey protein shakes are quickly absorbed and digested, allowing protein to reach the muscles in the time for better recovery and muscle growth.
Eating a high protein meal immediately after workout won't yield the same muscle growth because protein from food needs to be broken down first into different amino acids, then reassembled again to form the necessary protein required for muscle repair. This process takes long, longer than the period when the muscle are receptive to supply protein
